October 17, 2007: Using Spring With the NetBeans Visual Web Pack

Presentation Abstract

This demonstration shows you how to use the Spring framework in a NetBeans Visual Web Pack project. You can expect to learn about:
° Building a Spring service layer with validators, declarative transactional support, choice of connection pooling options, SimpleJdbcTemplate using Java 5 generics, unit tests, etc.
° Wrapping back end data with ObjectListDataProvider objects for binding to JavaServer Faces components. CachedRowSetDataProvider which is used by VWP has a thread safety issue http://wiki.netbeans.info/wiki/view/VwpRowSetThreadSafe
° Clear separation of concerns for validators, DAO, service layers, etc.
See http://www.netbeans.org/kb/55/vwp-hibernate.html for building simple read-only Hibernate application.
