June 2012

June's topic will be JAX-WS presented by Steven P. Goldsmith, Sr. Application Developer at Bright House Networks. You may be a REST fan boy marshalling your objects with reckless and contract-less abandon (unless you use WSDL 2.0), but there's still a place for good old SOAP. You can however use REST style Web Services using the JAX-WS Provider/Dispatch and XML binding (if you really must). Everyone knows I have an affinity for code generation and meta programming, so you will not be disappointed with this topic.

 The agenda consists of:

  • JAX-WS features
  • Configure JAX-WS in a Maven project (with some cool tricks of course)
  • Using the wsimport Ant task programmatically (handy for processing multiple WSDLs)
  • Anatomy of a WSDL crawler (when UDDI just doesn't work)
  • Dynamically add SSL certificates to Java Keystore (for those pesky self signed certs)
  • Using NetBeans 7 to create service provider and consumer (and other tools as well)

Food and beverages will be provided by Adam Doll of Veredus in Tampa.  If you are looking for employment prospects get in contact with him.
